New Head of Chair from April 2019
Prof. Dr. ir. Maarten Uijt de Haag is expected to become the next Head of Chair "Flight Guidance and Air Transport" on 15 April 2019. Previously, Prof. Uijt de Haag taught at Ohio University in Athens (Ohio), where he held the Edmund K. Cheng Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Since 2013, the Department of Flight Guidance and Air Transport has once again been filled with a full professorship.
Curriculum vitae
Prof. Dr. ir. Maarten Uijt de Haag obtained his M.S.E.E. (‘ir’) degree from Delft University in the Netherlands in 1994 and a Ph.D. from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1999. Until his appointment at the TU Berlin, Dr. Uijt de Haag was the Edmund K. Cheng Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a Principal Investigator (PI) with the Avionics Engineering Center at Ohio University. He has taught on various subjects such as communications, navigation and surveillance (CNS), integrated navigation systems, simultaneous localization and mapping, GPS, INS, target tracking, flight management systems, aviation standards and software certification, and unmanned aircraft systems. Dr. Uijt de Haag has been involved with navigation, flight guidance and avionics-related research since 1992 for corporate sponsors and government sponsors such as NASA, FAA, AFRL, AFOSR, and DARPA. Dr. Uijt de Haag has authored or co-authored over 170 publications and co-authored five book chapters. Furthermore, he was editor of the ION Redbook on Integrated Systems. Dr. Uijt de Haag is a Senior Member of the IEEE, an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and a member of the SPIE and ION. He is an Associate Editor for NAVIGATION, has served on the Council of the ION for several years, and serves currently as the vice-chair of the AIAA Digital Avionics Technical Committee (DATC). Maarten Uijt de Haag was awarded the 2007 Institute of Navigation Colonel Thomas L. Thurlow Award for his contributions to laser-based navigation and integrity monitors for synthetic vision systems.
